Whole Lotta Love is very close to a straight ripoff of this song (which is turn, a cover of Willie Dixons's song he wrote for Muddy Waters, but Steve Marriot made it his own). This band may seem like a copy cat of all the other hit 60's bands at first, but they truly were unique and have that particular feel that just works like the Beatles or the Who.
The Small Faces’ career is unique in rock and roll, occurring in two stages that saw a partial realignment in personnel and pronounced shift in style. They began as the Small Faces, a band of mod rockers who embraced soul and psychedelia in the latter half of the Sixties. The (Small) Faces gave rock the best of both worlds with their original incarnation as mod hipsters and eventual transformation to raucously joyous boogie-blues rockers. Much like the Who, the Small Faces were a band of sharp-dressed mods who loved soul and R&B. The very word Faces-a bit of mod lingo making reference to their absorption with looks and fashion-signaled an allegiance with the subculture. They prefaced it with Small because all four members were diminutive in stature, yet there was nothing small about their sound.
In 1969, the Small Faces released their final album 'Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake,' and in an album packed with amazing songs, 'Afterglow' ranks among the finest. The opening crash of chords leads into a soulful, ballad like verse before amping things up again on the life affirming chorus. Marriott's vocal here is incredible.

Outside Europe, all anybody remembers them for is their sole hit, "Itchycoo Park," which was hardly representative of their psychedelic sound, much less their full musical range - but in England, Small Faces were one of the most extraordinary and successful bands of the mid-'60s, serious competitors to the Who and potential rivals to the Rolling Stones.
