One To Grow On was designed by Shadow to remind radio and other industry types of what had been accomplished musically in anticipation of the new Private Press album. Think of it as the best of DJ Shadow, 1993-2000.

The Private Press is the second studio album by American hip hop producer DJ Shadow, released on June 4, 2002 by MCA Records. Upon its release, the album received universal acclaim from critics. The single "Six Days" featured a promotional video directed by Wong Kar-wai.

DJ Shadow, is rightly regarded as one of the most influential and consistently innovative artists to emerge from music in the last 20 years, has a collection of his finest recordings released on September 25th via UMe. Known as "an electronic musical pioneer and turntable mastermind" (Pitchfork. com) Reconstructed: The Best Of DJ Shadow will be released on one single CD and double vinyl. All the music is drawn from Shadow s 20-year career - from the early pre-Mo Wax days, right up to the present and his most recent album, The Less You Know, The Better . was like nothing that had come before.

Joshua Paul Davis (born June 29, 1972), better known by his stage name DJ Shadow, is an American record producer and DJ. He first gained notice with the release of his highly acclaimed debut studio album, Endtroducing. He has a personal record collection of over 60,000 records.

Happy Holidays! smarturl.

Sitting on a tree stump, the artist known as DJ Shadow is telling me how his latest album, The Mountain Will Fall, got its name. The day I started on it, I did something I don't usually do: I posted on Twitter that I was beginning work on an album," he says. that starting an album is like looking up a mountain, but that in two weeks I'd think, 'Look how far I've come. In 1996, UK label Mo' Wax released Davis' first album, Endtroducing-the record that launched him to superstardom. Acknowledged by the Guinness World Records as the first album built entirely from samples, Endtroducing was a fluid but intricate amalgam of classic funk beats, rap acapellas, and spoken word snippets.
