In my case, Lester Young - Pres - is my number one musical inspiration, Jo Jones' influence on me as a drummer is encoded in my DNA, and Teddy Wilson is one of my "trinity of pianists' (along with Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk). The first thing that pops out is the tightness of the quartet on each track. If you are a Lester Young fan you will marvel at his rich tone on each track. More importantly, this dispels the myth that he had lost his powers by the 1950s. For me - someone who idolizes Pres, Wilson and Jones - passing on this album is not an option. 3 people found this helpful.
