Substrata is the third studio album by Norwegian electronic musician Geir Jenssen under the stage name Biosphere, released in 1997 by All Saints Records. It is Biosphere's first truly ambient album, and has a theme of cold, of mountains and glaciers, and of running water. Sounds of howling wind and creaking wood, although infrequently employed, create a chilling soundscape interrupted by sonorous but quietly suspenseful music.

On December 3, Starkey will release his third album, Orbits. Hailing from Philadelphia, Starkey has been pushing an ultra-colourful hybrid of grime, dubstep and pitch-bent synth music for the best part of a decade. It’s a sound that’s slowly developed over the course of his albums, EPs and vocal collaborations (with Trim, Charli XCX and more), and at times has splintered off into modern classical, spacious synth-drift and beyond.
The biosphere is also sometimes referred to as the ecosphere as it is the combination of all ecosystems on earth. The term biosphere was created in 1875 by a geologist named Eduard Suess. Because every place on earth, including the polar ice caps, are able to sustain life of some sort even if just microbes, the entire earth is included in the biosphere. The biosphere also includes depths in the ocean as microbes are able to exist seven miles below the surface. The biosphere also includes the relationships between all living things as well as their interactions in the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. It is an artificial, closed ecological system - the largest of its kind ever created.
